Camden, Gloucester City, Pennsauken, Collingswood, Woodlynne, Audubon: this county is full of row homes and twins built decades before the 1978 lead paint ban. If it's a rental and it's pre-1978, NJ's lead-safe law applies to it.
Camden City holds the most renters: 16,025 households, two-thirds of the city, in housing where 38% went up before 1940. Collingswood is older still on paper, with 49% of its housing from before 1940.
Gloucester City, where we're based, is one of four Camden County municipalities where NJ DCA requires dust wipe sampling for 2025-26. Brooklawn, Runnemede and Hi-Nella are the others. Camden City, with far more rentals, is a visual inspection town. The method follows children's blood lead test results by town, so it rarely lines up with what the housing looks like.

Brooklawn is the extreme: 97% of its housing is pre-1980 and 60% is prewar. Every covered rental there needs lab-tested dust wipes. Our price includes the lab.

Lindenwold is a different kind of rental town. 70% of households rent, and half of its renters live in buildings of 5 to 19 units. 70% of its housing is pre-1980, so most of those buildings are covered.
Voorhees is the opposite: only 38% of its housing predates 1980. Units in buildings constructed in 1978 or later are exempt, so check each building's year built before booking inspections.
